Link Loss and Continuity Test

Line Continuity and Link Loss Test evaluates the fiber path continuity. The test enables to determine functionality and diagnose issues if they exist within a fiber path. It allows users to check functionality and diagnose issues if they exist within a fiber path. This test checks a connection for any polarity issues and measures link loss.

Layer One Diagnostics Features

Bit Error Ratio Test (BERT)

Bit Error Ratio Test (BERT) is a fundamental diagnostic tool that plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of communication links and it is seamlessly integrated into the Sensus™. This feature allows for the comprehensive evaluation of the condition and quality of a selected link, serving as a vital component in ensuring that your devices operate at peak efficiency. Whether executed locally through the Sensus™ LCD screen or remotely via the AllPath® Director (APD), the BERT capability in Sensus™ ensures that your network components are fully functional at all times and able to meet the rigorous demands of modern data transmission.

Continuity Test

The continuity and link loss test stands as a fundamental tool, enabling technicians and administrators to assess the functionality of fiber paths and swiftly identify any issues that might impede seamless data transmission. This versatile test encompasses two critical aspects: line continuity and link loss. Both of these tests are instrumental in not only verifying the integrity of the fiber path but also in diagnosing and rectifying problems that may arise in a network’s optical infrastructure. The line continuity test is used to verify whether the optical fibers within the path are intact and without any physical breaks or damage. The link loss test, on the other hand, is focused on evaluating the overall loss of signal strength that occurs as light travels through the fiber path.

Health Check

In the fast-paced world of network infrastructure and device management, staying ahead of potential issues is critical to maintaining optimal functionality and performance. The Health Check feature embedded within the Sensus™ system is a robust toolkit designed to provide users with the means to not only assess the overall functionality of Sensus™ devices but also diagnose and troubleshoot any problems that may arise. This versatile suite of diagnostic tests encompasses a range of critical assessments, including Power Check, Presence Check, LED Test, APD Connectivity, Modules, Network Test, SFP, and NFC.

Fiber Scope

The integration of a USB Fiber Scope with the Sensus™ device extends the diagnostic capabilities of the system. Users can connect this specialized scope directly to the Sensus™ device, simplifying the process of inspection and allowing users to examine optical connectors, check for contamination or damage, and ensure that the ports are properly aligned and connected, all contributing to an optimal signal transmission environment.

The link loss test measures the amount of signal attenuation experienced along the path, providing insights into the quality and efficiency of the optical connection.
