Fiber Mountain’s Glass Core integrates software and hardware innovations to transform network infrastructure. AllPath Director, OPX, Sensus and L-Series Products combine software orchestration, physical layer intelligence and high-density fiber optics to enable Managed, Dynamic and Secure physical networks.

Fiber Mountain’s Sensus intelligent panels aggregate and break out fiber connectivity from duplex LC cables to high density 8-fiber, 12-fiber and 24-fiber MPO trunks. A Sensus chassis incorporates three modules: one management module with an integrated four-inch (4”) LCD screen, and two interchangeable patching modules. Access to the management module may be local or remote, with software that enables applications such as work order management, asset management, alarm management, and diagnostic tools.

Sensus’ LC and MPO ports can detect cable presence and read cable information directly from the Fiber Mountain ICID (Intelligent Connection IDentification) cables, or other manufacturers cables with Fiber Mountain ICID technology installed. Fiber Mountain’s orchestration software, AllPath Director (APD), can correlate cables to panel ports, and create a live graphical representation of the physical layer topology. Patching module per-port tri-colored LEDs can be controlled remotely from APD or from an API. Fiber Mountain ICID cables contain NFC ID tags, which when placed in front of the logo beneath the Sensus management screen, displays cable details, and with integration to APD, can include instructions for where the cable is to be inserted, or correlate to existing work orders.

 

Management Modules

The Sensus panel management module contains Near-Field Communications (NFC) technology to read the product information contained within the NFC tags of ICID-enabled cables. The Sensus management module has an integrated four-inch (4”) LCD touchscreen, which can display the cable information read by the NFC reader and provide detailed instructions of work orders to technicians for moves, adds, or changes.

Built-in power redundancy protects management functionality, allowing power to be supplied from two different sources or via an Ethernet POE (Power Over Ethernet) interface. While power is needed for management, all Sensus panels are passive and can pass traffic without power.

Patching Modules

Sensus’ hot-swappable patching modules can break out or aggregate Duplex LC, 24-fiber MPO, 12-fiber MPO or 8-fiber MPO interfaces to LC or MPO connectivity. Several fiber mapping options including front-to-front or front-to-rear port mapping allow for versatile cable configurations while simplifying compliance with TIA-5683-D.3 2016 standards for fiber polarity. Patching modules are all available in Single Mode OS2 fiber or Multimode OM4 fiber.

Configurable LEDs:

Each port on both the front and rear faceplates of the patching modules has an associated tri-color LED, supporting red, green and amber. Applications for remotely controlled LEDs could include technician guidance, alarming for unauthorized connections, flagging for IEC recommended cleaning or end-face inspection needed, replication of an associated network device’s port status for port extender functionality, or for any other user defined criteria.

AllPath Director (APD) orchestration software provides network-wide visibility and discovery of products in the Sensus FPA family. Applications are designed to take advantage of the total network view. Tasks such as provisioning end-to-end connectivity are easily performed via point & click workflows. APD also provides documentation management with port labeling, reservation, asset management and more. Security is improved with audit trails that provide historical records of provisioning and monitoring changes. A graphical rendering of the layer 1 topology provides a network-wide view of the physical layer. It includes enhanced features such as Path Finder, which draws out the connection path from a selected port to the destination.
